YumeTwins: Japanese Kawaii Subscription Box Review

I’m sure you’re all familiar with my extensive testing of both Sakuraco and TokyoTreat, which are under the Japanese parent company ICHIGO. This time, another of their sister companies reached out to me: YumeTwins. They asked me to honestly review their kawaii products, and of course, I was pretty excited about this. But more on that later. First, let’s talk about what YumeTwins is.

YumeTwins is a monthly subscription box filled with adorable and cute (kawaii) items straight from Japan. It’s perfect for fans of kawaii culture, anime, and Japanese merchandise. In case you wonder whether it’s legit, YumeTwins is a legitimate company with a strong reputation. They have over 3,000 reviews on TrustPilot, boasting an impressive 4.7-star rating.

Disclaimer: YumeTwins gave me their July box for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Also, if you purchase through the links, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

What’s inside each YumeTwins box?

According to their official site, you can find the following items in each of the boxes:

  • A curated selection of 5-7 kawaii items.
  • A mix of plushies, stationery, accessories, and lifestyle goods.
  • Merchandise from popular characters and brands like Sanrio, Pokemon, Rilakkuma, and more.
  • Exclusive items that you can’t find anywhere else.

How much does a YumeTwins subscription cost?

The subscription cost depends on the plan you choose. The most affordable option is the 12-month plan, priced at $32.50 per month. The most expensive option is the 1-month plan, which costs $37.50 per month.

Since shipping is not included in this price, you will want to check their page for more information about shipping costs.

For example, U.S. delivery time is estimated at 2-14 business days after shipping with a $12.50 shipping fee, while delivery to Norway is estimated at 7-28 days after shipping with the same $12.50 shipping fee. Additionally, there may be custom import fees depending on your country.

What’s inside my YumeTwins box (July 2024)?

My box arrived quite late, but I can’t really blame the company. I had troubles dealing with Slovak customs, and the process took longer than usual, probably because it’s summer and employees are on vacation. The box is neatly packed in a paper box, similar to TokyoTreat and Sakuraco. The design is cute, as expected, with a purple color and adorable font.

The items are tidily arranged inside, all packed in plastic covers for protection. There is also an English booklet that provides information about anime, cosplay, tips for anime places in Japan, and details about the included items.

Contents of the YumeTwins July 2024 Box

Cardcaptor Sakura Hair Band

I have long hair and, as a skincare addict, this hair accessory is perfect for me. Made from polyester, it holds my hair well, and I use it daily when I am cleansing my face, applying serums, and moisturizing. It can also be used for bathing or applying makeup.

But let’s talk about how cute the design is! Featuring Keroberos, the guardian of Clow Cards and Sakura’s friend, it even has a little “Cardcaptor Sakura” written on it!

Anime Stickers or Stamps

This month, the choices were either a One Piece stamp or Spy x Family stickers. I got the Spy x Family stickers, which made me happy because I’m a fan of the show and haven’t started One Piece yet (it’s too long, and I’m afraid to start now). The stickers are very cute but quite small!

Pinoko Keychain

I learned something new with this box because I honestly didn’t know who Pinoko is. Apparently, she is a spunky assistant from the retro anime Black Jack, created by the godfather of anime, Osamu Tezuka.

There were six possible outfit variations to get with this one, and I got the one with a yukata! I’m guilty of not having any keychain to differentiate my keys from my family members, so I immediately put this cute keychain to use!

Mystery Anime Goodie

Mystery items are always fun, and this month, the choices were a Sailor Moon badge, a plushie, or a Spy x Family plushie. I got the Sailor Moon badge with Usagi herself, which I am very pleased with as she was one of my favorite magical girls when I was little!

Demon Slayer Dress Towel

A dress towel might seem like a strange idea, but anime fans will likely love it. While it can be used as a hand towel, it’s most likely intended for decoration. The variations included many characters from Demon Slayer such as Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Shinobu, Mitsuri, and Kanao.

Unfortunately, I received the Zenitsu one. While it is cute, I’m not a big fan of Zenitsu as a character and would have preferred any other. Despite my personal preference, I must say it’s super adorable and small, and I was able to fold it easily using the KonMari method.

Final thoughts on YumeTwins

YumeTwins is filled with high-quality Japanese cute items, just as they claim. Since they work with official merchandise, each item has a more luxurious feel to it. If you like the popular anime series it features, you will be pleased with the items and likely love the mystery items, as there are many variations despite there being only 5-7 items per box.

That being said, YumeTwins is clearly more aimed at girls. It’s also great for younger kids or as a gift for your girlfriend or female friend if she is into anime.
