Dubbed as a gateway to Japanese pop culture, I’ll put TokyoTreat under scrutiny in this hands-on review. I’ll be checking if TokyoTreat is really worth it by looking at how much it costs and the quality of the snacks it gives you.
We know that Japanese culture has lots of tasty snacks and meals to offer. But how easy is to get hands on them? Accessing authentic Japanese snacks might be challenging for some, especially those outside Japan like me. I can’t really get genuine foreign snacks that easily in Slovakia.
Luckily, TokyoTreat provides the convenience of having these snacks delivered directly to your doorstep, saving you the trouble of sourcing them independently.
Now, let’s jump into the TokyoTreat review and see if it’s as good as it sounds.
Disclaimer: TokyoTreat kindly provided me with their December box in exchange for an honest review. As always, I want to assure you that all opinions expressed in this article are my own.

What’s inside TokyoTreat Box
Every month of your subscription, you will receive 15 to 20 full-size Japanese snacks. This means variety of popular snacks, including soda, seasonal Kit Kats, salty treats, savory snacks, bakery goods, and even instant ramen!
You’ll also discover a handy English booklet inside, providing guidance on the snacks and their background. Additionally, complete allergen information is included for your convenience.
I got the “Snacktacular Christmas” box from December 2023. The snacks were Christmas-themed, perfectly capturing the festive spirit of Japanese Christmas. Inside, I found delightful treats like candy canes, snowball marshmallows, chips, Christmas cake gummies, Calpis soda, and even some spicy ramen!
Although the box may seem small at first glance, it’s packed with enough snacks to satisfy at least two people for 2 to 3 days. I saved some of the bigger packages like KitKats, potato crackers, gummies, and chocolate to enjoy later. In fact, I paired most of the sweets I had saved with my morning coffee over the next few days.
My favorite TokyoTreat snacks
Being a decisive person, I still find selecting the top snacks from the box a bit challenging. In comparison to Sakuraco, TokyoTreat seems suitable even for picky eaters, with no extreme flavors (at least in this box this was true).
After trying each snack, I can confidently say I didn’t dislike anything, but I did have some favorites that stood out.
Let’s take a look, shall we?
Christmas Cake Gummies
I have a soft spot for anything mildly sweet and fluffy, especially if it involves strawberries. The gummies caught me off guard with their subtle taste – a pleasant departure from the usual artificial flavors you find in similar treats!
Premium Ghana Chocolate Caramel
These caramel-infused chocolate squares paired perfectly with my coffee, complementing both texture and flavor. I made it a daily ritual to enjoy two of these treats with my morning coffee, and it was absolutely delicious!
KitKat Strawberry Chocolate Cake
Individually, KitKat is already awesome, but the strawberry chocolate cake KitKat takes it to another level of tastiness! Despite what the photo might suggest, this was a larger package with 10 KitKats, allowing me to share the goodness with my family.
Pure Potato Truffle & Rock Salt
Being a chips enthusiast, I was confident I’d enjoy these truffle chips even before trying them. To my surprise, they weren’t as salty as expected, offering a more earthy flavor. A simple yet delicious salty snack!
Spicy KitaKata Ramen
We have instant Slovak soups in our convenient stores but I find them quite disappointing, so I’ve never been inclined to buy any instant food.
Despite my love for Japan and its culture, I never had the chance to taste the ramen made famous by Naruto. Limited options in my city and the absence of instant ramen in our convenience stores kept me from trying it.
Finally, when I did thanks to TokyoTreat, it surpassed my expectations. The spiciness was just right, and I couldn’t resist finishing the entire bowl. I added some soft-boiled egg and chopped paprika to make it even yummier. I wish I could enjoy this ramen every day!
TokytoTreat shipping cost
TokyoTreat ships worldwide, but the shipping costs and delivery times can vary. For example, sending the box to India costs $10.50, and it usually takes 2 to 14 business days to arrive. If you’re in Sweden, the shipping fee is $12.50, and you can expect the package in 7 to 28 days.
Keep in mind that some countries might add extra customs fees for Japanese packages.
For the most accurate and current shipping info, it’s best to check their official website. They regularly update details about shipping policies there.
How much does TokyoTreat cost?
TokyoTreat offers different pricing depending on how many months you subscribe. If you go for a longer subscription plan, you can save money.
With a 12-month subscription, the cost per box drops to $32.50 each month. If you opt for a single month only, the box would be $37.50 for that month.
TokyoTreat vs Sakuraco
Sakuraco and TokyoTreat, being sister companies, share a similar vibe, but their snacks have some differences.
In my experience with both boxes, TokyoTreat leans towards modern and popular snacks, appealing to pickier eaters and even kids.
On the other hand, Sakuraco takes a more traditional approach that might be more suitable for adults and older generation.
If you’re curious about what’s inside the Sakuraco box and wondering if it’s the right choice for you, take a moment to read my honest review.
Is TokyoTreat legit?
Considering not just my positive experience but also the feedback from over 9,100 reviews on TrustPilot, boasting a 4.6 rating, it’s safe to conclude that TokyoTreat is a trustworthy and genuine company from Japan that lives up to its promises in delivering delightful goodies.
Final thoughts on TokyoTreat
In conclusion, TokyoTreat offers a delightful journey into Japanese snacking, delivering a diverse range of treats that cater to both adventurous and picky eaters. With its festive and themed boxes, it adds a fun and cultural twist to the snacking experience.
The worldwide shipping options are a bit pricey, but subscription plans provide flexibility. The pricing, especially with longer subscriptions, offers good value for the variety and quality of snacks received. ä
TokyoTreat, backed by positive reviews, stands out as a legitimate and enjoyable option for those eager to explore and savor authentic Japanese flavors.
